The $5 Match
Warren Buffett vs. Tiger Woods — The $5 Match
Warren Buffett once caddied for Tiger Woods at a charity event. On the 18th hole, Tiger turned to him and said, “Warren, I understand you play this game.”
“Not the game you’re talking about, Tiger,” Buffett replied.
“We’re going to play this hole for serious money,” Tiger said.
“All money is serious money,” Buffett countered.
“We’re playing for $5.”
“That’s serious money.”
Then Tiger got down on his knees — fully down — and played the entire hole from that position. His drive went 260 yards, straight down the fairway. On his knees.
Buffett handed over the $5.
“Tiger, I think you’re forgetting something,” he said.
“What’s that?”
“The caddy gets 10% of your winnings.”
Buffett says he’s still waiting for his 50 cents.
